OAST FARM DEVELOPMENT

Chickenden farm is a collection of contemporary properties at the end of a secluded country lane with wide reaching views.

The design creates individual gardens for each of the new houses as well as a generous communal arrival courtyard planted with native trees for blossom and autumn colour.

Taking our inspiration from the converted oasts and farm buildings, we developed a simple palette of rustic vernacular materials for the hard landscaping, fencing and walls.

With plants suited to the local conditions we created a planting palette of wind breaking coppice and wildflower verges, framing views and increasing biodiversity on the site from hedgerow to pond.
These screen the entrance whilst merging with the farmland to create a gently filtering buffer between the domestic gardens and countryside beyond.

Planning permission was granted in 2019 with a view to offering the houses to market in early 2020.
