KENTISH FARM HOUSE

A Kentish farm house within a rare pocket of woodland, this is garden buzzing with wildlife, as well as resident dogs, cats, chickens and even horses. When we began working here the garden needed renovation, but we wanted to tread lightly, working with the established trees and where possible keeping the framework which had been developed over the previous thirty years by a passionate and organic gardener.

We redesigned the borders to ensure year round colour and interest, using a backbone of structural shrubs softened with herbaceous planting to attract bees, butterflies and to sustain the plentiful birds.

We created a contemporary entrance sequence to an artist’s studio and, using local reclaimed materials we made a vegetable garden as a secret retreat. The garden is now full of colour, enticing paths and secret corners, and of course the occasional chicken.
