TILLINGHAM WINERY

A contemporary garden for the renovated farmstead at Tillingham Winery, Peasmarsh, East Sussex. The mixed farm includes vineyards, fruit trees, woodland and livestock, and is managed biodynamically. 

Our design for the planting around the buildings, which have been refurbished by RX Architects to provide accommodation, a restaurant, wine tasting room and shop, borrows from the surrounding countryside.

The grid pattern of the vines informs the arrangement of the planting beds, and the mix of perennials and grasses have been selected to attract pollinators. Textured concrete, recycled farmyard metals and clay vessels from the wine making process help to anchor the scheme.
